The General- Secretary of the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions, Shahir Saad, welcomed the General Assembly\u2019s decision and the overwhelming vote in its favor, noting that this result reflects the recognition of most countries worldwide of the Palestinian people\u2019s legitimate rights and their inalienable claim to their land. Saad affirmed that the support of such a large number of states sends a clear message that the international community rejects the continuation of the occupation and the unilateral measures imposed on Palestinian land, and supports efforts aimed at ending the occupation and establishing the independent State of Palestine on the 1967 borders. He added that this resolution strengthens the standing of the Palestinian cause and reaffirms the world\u2019s commitment to international law and UN resolutions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

By an overwhelming majority, the UN General Assembly voted in favor of a resolution demanding the withdrawal of the occupying entity from the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, and the realization of the inalienable rights of our people\u2014foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state.<\/p>\n
