{"id":13913,"date":"2026-05-19T14:23:51","date_gmt":"2026-05-19T14:23:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pgftu.org\/?p=13913"},"modified":"2026-05-19T14:43:41","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T14:43:41","slug":"pgftu-condemns-the-interception-of-the-humanitarian-solidarity-flotilla-and-the-arrest-of-turkish-trade-union-leader-mahmut-arslan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pgftu.org\/en\/pgftu-condemns-the-interception-of-the-humanitarian-solidarity-flotilla-and-the-arrest-of-turkish-trade-union-leader-mahmut-arslan\/","title":{"rendered":"PGFTU condemns the arrest of Turkish trade union leader Mahmut Arslan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions strongly condemns the Israeli occupation forces\u2019 interception of the humanitarian solidarity flotilla and convoy heading to the Gaza Strip, and the arrest of brother and veteran trade unionist Mr. Mahmut Arslan, President of the Turkish Trade Union Confederation (HAK-\u0130\u015e), along with a number of international activists and solidarity participants involved in the humanitarian campaign in support of the Palestinian people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The arrest of Mr. Mahmut Arslan, who is well known for his firm and principled support for the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people, constitutes a blatant assault on free trade union and humanitarian work, and an unacceptable attempt to silence trade union and humanitarian voices that reject the siege and aggression imposed on the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Mr. Mahmut Arslan has played a prominent and honorable role in supporting the Palestinian cause within T\u00fcrkiye and at the Arab and international levels. He has contributed to numerous global initiatives and campaigns calling for the protection of the Palestinian people and an end to the violations they face, particularly Palestinian workers. He has consistently remained a free and courageous trade union voice standing for justice and human rights.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions affirms that Mr. Mahmut Arslan\u2019s participation in the humanitarian steadfastness flotilla stemmed from a genuine moral and humanitarian commitment toward the Palestinian people amid the catastrophic humanitarian situation endured by our people in the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">While expressing its full solidarity with Mr. Mahmut Arslan and all detained international activists and supporters, the Federation calls for their immediate release and holds the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for their safety and well-being.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Federation also highly appreciates this courageous and noble stance and affirms that the Palestinian people and the Palestinian trade union movement, represented by the Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions (PGFTU), will never forget these sincere and brotherly positions.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ose-youtube ose-uid-a7c89bb7e38f78d510717075d8c1f9e0 ose-embedpress-responsive\" style=\"width:600px;
