The Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions (PGFTU) strongly condemns the horrific crime committed by Israeli occupation forces at dawn on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in which a Palestinian worker and members of his family were killed in the town of Tamoun, south of Tubas Governorate. The attack resulted in the killing of four family members and the injury of two children after they were directly shot at while returning from the city of Nablus.
PGFTU affirms that this heinous crime led to the killing of the worker Ali Khaled Sayel Bani Odeh (37 years old), his wife Waad Othman Aql Bani Odeh (35 years old), and their two sons, Mohammad (5 years old) and Othman (7 years old). This act constitutes a full-fledged crime targeting an entire civilian family without any justification.
The Federation explained that Bani Odeh had returned from his work in construction inside Israel and had taken his family to the city of Nablus for an outing and to purchase Eid al-Fitr supplies after a long absence due to work. However, Israeli forces ambushed them during their travel and fired a barrage of bullets at their vehicle, resulting in the killing of four members of the six-person family.
PGFTU stressed that the details of the crime are documented through videos, images, and evidence, which show heavy gunfire directed at the family’s vehicle despite the presence of children inside, including a visually impaired child. The Federation also noted that the assault continued even after the vehicle had come to a stop.
PGFTU calls on the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), the Building and Wood Workers’ International (BWI), as well as international and Arab trade unions, to expose these crimes and take serious action to hold Israel accountable for violations against the Palestinian people—especially Palestinian workers—and to pursue those responsible in international forums.
Attached are a video testimony of the child Khaled Ali Sayel Bani Odeh (12 years old), one of the surviving children, along with photos documenting the incident.
